“Jumper was conceived during a wild electrical storm. His mum, Pam, had been on a 4-day bender at a bushdoof with a travelling fire twirler named Guy.
He shoved a jumper up his t-shirt and suggested they have a baby… 9 months later, Guy had twirled on, and little Jumper was born…”

✮✮✮✮✮ TIME OUT
✮✮✮✮ THE AGE
Kiki, Bob and Jumper are best friends with extravagant and idiosyncratic dreams. Kiki wants to dance the tango on Mount Kilimanjaro with a bearded lady, Jumper is in love with a snake called Trix and Bob’s an ordinary bloke who might just hold the secret to time travel. A comedy about growing up, dying young, and being extraordinary no matter what.
Following sell-out seasons at the Melbourne and Sydney Fringe Festivals in 2011, plus awards and nominations, CUT SNAKE has toured through regional NSW and Victoria, played the Brisbane Festival and a convict-built barn in Tasmania, and enjoyed return seasons in Sydney and Melbourne. A comic happening that pulls out pretty much every theatrical trick in the book for the audience’s entertainment – think cabaret, slapstick, acrobatics and sock puppets as well cameo appearances from Jesus and John Lennon – CUT SNAKE takes another look at life and says HELL YES.
A few more things about Cut Snake…
Cut Snake played at the 2011 Sydney and Melbourne Fringe Festivals, selling out in Melbourne, receiving a 4-star review in The Age and winning a Melbourne Fringe Award for Best Emerging Writers as well as being nominated for Melbourne Green Room Theatre Awards for Best New Australian Work and Best Independent Ensemble.
For the 2013 Sydney season we transformed the auditorium at Rock Surfers at the Bondi Pav into possibly the world’s biggest cubby house. The Melbourne people also got a treat – a secret location and the first appearance of our brand new performance tent.
Cut Snake was on the VCE Drama list in 2013 and received awards from Drama Victoria for Best Resource Kit for Drama and/or Theatre Education 2013 (Dan Giovannoni) and Best Performance by a Theatre Company for VCE Drama 2013. It played in Victoria and Tasmania in 2014, including a school tour with Regional Arts Victoria.
In 2015, the mighty Theatre Works in St Kilda hosts a limited return season as CUT SNAKE reappears on the VCE list.
We hope to see you there.
It’s a way of life.
